Coronavirus is having a large impact on all our lives and as you would expect it is also impacting our BGA programme schedule. The BGA Committee are continuing to meet, virtually via Zoom software to manage the progamme so keep a eye on this web-site and Glenys’s e-mails to keep up to date with what is going on and what is being cancelled.

Programme Update –  With the continuing Coronavirus restrictions you will not be surprised to see that the 15 May monthly meeting has been cancelled as well as the evening visit to Tonbridge School Garden on 12 June. We hope to rearrange this visit in 2021.

Following the very successful Spring Show, which was organised on the basis of members submitting photographic entries that were then independently judged (see the Flower Shows page for the results), we will be running the June Summer Show on the same basis. This means that everyone’s hard work tending their garden plants during the restrictions can be rewarded by getting your cameras out and submitting your prize entries. So get snapping away.

Spring  Show  Results – As we are all obeying the Government directive you will not be surprised to hear that our formal Spring Show scheduled for Saturday 4th April was cancelled. However, “the show must go on”  so the Commmittee organised a virtual show where prize exhibits were entered by entrants sending a photograph of their class entries.

The results are now published on the Flower Shows page, just click on the tab above to see these winning flowers.

Our thanks go to Colin Barber for organising this alternative fun event, the judges and to evertyone that took part.

The viability of the Summer Outing to RHS Wisley – Sunday 2nd August, will be reviewed in June The plan is to leave Bidborough Village Hall at 9a.m. with the additional usual pick up in Birchwood Avenue arriving at Wisley between 10 and 10.30.  Included in the price (not yet fixed but under £20) will be a guided garden tour at 11a.m. which lasts up to 90 minutes.  After that free time until our return, leaving Wisley 3.30-4pm and back in Bidborough around 5pm.  Further details to follow.

Cornwall Garden Holiday – There is one remaining double or twin rooms available (sorry no single rooms left) at the Penmere Manor Hotel, Falmouth for our trip on 7-11th September 2020. We are visiting 5 gardens in Cornwall and a National Trust property on the trip down and one on the trip back home – further details from Michael Marks by email –

A decision will be made on this holiday and the impact of Coronavirus in June, before any more money needs to be paid. This will mean you will only loose your deposit if the holiday is cancelled before final payments are due on 1 July.
